Sake Major Maker

sake ware: choko

There are some good regions for sake in Japan.
Those areas have good rice or good water.

1. Fushimi (Kyoto)
Kyoto used to be the capital of Japan and
has good water and a long history.
Kyoto's sake is very famous.

Gekkeikan
Shochikubai
Kizakura

2. Nada (Kobe)
The area has good water from Rokko-mountains.
You might know Kobe beef.
That is the same area.

Kukumasamune
Sawanotsuru
Hukumusume

3. Akita, Miyagi, Yamagata & Niigata
Those are famous rice growing districts and they have good water.
No doubt, there are many good Sake makers in the area.
But, there is not a major Sake maker.
There are many small Sake makers.
So some makers have many different types of premium sake.
This kind sake is hard to get and very expensive.

Koshinokanbai (Niigata)
It is the most famous premium sake.

Juyondai(Yamagata)
I saw a Yahoo web shop where it was sold for over $500.00.
It is very, very rare!

What do you like?
